Kirill Tatarinov to lead Microsoft Business Solutions division

Kirill Tatarinov Redmond, June 29th 2007 -- today Microsoft announced that Kirill Tatarinov, currently Corporate Vice President of the Microsoft’s Management and Solutions Division (MSD) within the Microsoft Business Division, will fill the MBS leadership position vacated by Satya Nadella in March. The move will be effective on July 2, 2007. Kirill brings extensive experience in leading R&D and broader business to the MBS leadership role. For the past five years Kirill has led Microsoft’s management business including prioritizing R&D bets, galvanizing the team and delivering high-quality solutions to customers and partners. This has yielded break-through results for Microsoft including a greatly expanded product portfolio and improved brand perception.

Prior to Microsoft, Kirill spent time in both large and small company environments and experienced what it was like to be a Microsoft partner. He was the Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer for BMC where he also spent time leading Business Development and running an end-to-end business, and was the founder of his own company, Patrol software, the developer of innovative software solutions for systems and network management. Patrol Software was acquired by BMC in 1994. Kirill has also worked in several systems, networking and consulting companies in Russia, Israel and Australia.

Jeff Raikes and Tami Reller are dedicated to ensuring a smooth and thoughtful leadership transition that reinforces the continued confidence and trust of our partners, customers and prospects as well as maintains the excellent momentum of the MBS business. Tami has committed to remaining on-board with MBS for another 3-6 months to ensure a smooth transition to Kirill after which time she will move on to a new role at Microsoft in which her skills and capabilities can be applied more broadly – we will share more down the road.

Finally, Brad Anderson will serve as the interim leader on the MSD business as the search for Kirill’s replacement moves forward. Brad is a strong senior leader with a great track record that includes four years at Microsoft and more than 12 years at Novell. As a General Manager in MSD, Brad is responsible for driving the overall development strategy, roadmap and delivery of key products under the Microsoft System Center brand, including Configuration Manager (formerly SMS), Virtual Machine Manager, “Asset Advisor” and the Softricity SoftGrid products.
